IV. READING COMPREHENSION :
A. Read the text carefully and then choose the correct answers (2m)
At the beginning of the 19th century , workers were differentiated by skill, income, and relative opportunities for advancement. The unskilled workers got low pay. Laborers , mill workers, cleaners, and servants received about one dollar a day. Skilled workers , such as craftsmen and mechanics received nearly double that because of their own tools and their proficiency. 
The technological and economics changes of the 19th century had a marked impact on workers. The appearance of the steamboats and railroad reduced transportation cost and had effects on the conditions of workers .
Economics had changes. To increase profits bosses demanded greater productivity from skilled workers and they also employed cheaper labor women, children and unskilled workers . They were exploited and always got low wages , and of course , they were ill-treated .
